METHUEN YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE / MYPT
The Methuen Young People’s Theatre seeks to provide an excellent summertime educational and cultural experience in musical theater to the youth of our area communities. Each summer, children of ages from those about to enter grade 4 through high school learn and rehearse a full-scale Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, which they perform for the public in a fully costumed production at summer’s end in early September.
All roles in the MYPT productions are performed by the children in the program, giving them the opportunity to develop their talents and to participate in a first-rate musical production. The summer program starts in mid-June and runs all summer long, continuing up to the September performances.
ANNUAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, the Music Hall is proud to support the youth of our local communities by awarding Music
Scholarships to promising young musicians. The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from the
Merrimack Valley who plan to major in a music-related field at college in the fall. The scholarship program
began in 1974 with an award of one scholarship of $200. Now, the Music Hall regularly awards two
scholarships of $1,000 each and occassionally awards additional amounts. To date, 98 students have received a total of $77,000 in awards. Scholarships have gone to students majoring in a range of music-related fields, including music, instrumental or vocal performance, music education, composition, musical theater and acoustical engineering. These scholarships are made possible by the continued support of the public through attendance at the Music Hall’s scholarship concerts and through donations to the Music Hall’s scholarship fund. The Music Hall very much appreciates this generous support.
The Music Hall is a non-profit organization qualified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Contributions to the Music Hall to support the Music Scholarship program, which will be most gratefully
received and are tax deductible as allowed by law, may be made at the Music Hall when a concert is given
or sent to the Methuen Memorial Music Hall, P.O. Box 463, Methuen, MA 01844.

MUSIC HALL DAYS
This longtime program welcomes fourth grade students from all Methuen schools to the Hall. Each spring, we welcome the schools for a tour of the Hall and to learn about the Great Organ. Students learn the history of Mr. Searles, the Hall and the Organ as well as hearing a professional organist play. Decades later, attendees at concerts and other events often share their memories of their fourth grade field trip to the Hall. We also extend a special thank you to the grant funding that makes this program possible.
