Did you know that you live and work in the shadow of America’s first concert organ? Did you know that the Methuen Memorial Music Hall is a mecca for music lovers, even a “bucket list” item for organists and those who love organ music, worldwide?

The Methuen Memorial Music Hall has a storied history. The building itself was commissioned by Edward F. Searles to house the pipe organ which had been removed from the Boston Music Hall. Famed architect Henry Vaughan designed the building in a relatively simple style, but with an interior patterned after that of Christopher Wren’s St. Stephen Church in London. After Mr. Searles’ death and a period of inactivity, a group of Methuen citizens incorporated the Hall in 1946 as an educational and arts center and began offering organ concerts and other musical performances for the public. That tradition has continued uninterrupted for more than 75 years.
