Saint Saens’ Organ Symphony featuring NH Philharmonic Orchestra & Justin Murphy-Mancini

May 18, 2024 – 7:30 PM
LOCATION 192 Broadway, Methuen MA 01844

An unparalleled opportunity to hear The Great Organ in concert with a full symphony orchestra, in the spectacular acoustical setting of the Music Hall

This concert promises an exciting and varied journey through the masterworks of French Romanticism. Opening with Berlioz’s vivacious “Roman Carnival Overture”, the performance carries listeners on a wave of Italianate joy and exuberance. The mood turns contemplative with Lili Boulanger’s “D’un soir triste”, an emotionally profound piece, inviting introspection and a melancholic reflection. This is followed by Guilmant’s “Fantaisie Triomphale”, a work showcasing the organ’s majesty through its triumphant, soaring themes. The grand finale is Saint-Saëns’s Symphony No. 3, “Organ Symphony”, which beautifully integrates the pipe organ with the orchestra, creating a symphony bursting with invention and drama. The concert promises a harmonious blend of joy, melancholy, triumph, and drama, offering an exhilarating journey through some of the greatest masterpieces of French Romantic music.
